A simply stunning Hand Painted Miniature Portrait of a young girl. Painted on a celluloid base, Ivorine, frequently used in the early 1900's for its stability. Dating to around 1920 and painted with fine precise brushwork and simply signed a "W." lower left hand side. I would think our young sitter is probably aged around 18 or 19 years of age. Presented behind glass in its original gilt frame and comes with its original travel case. In excellent antique condition with no damage to the base, loss of colour or fading. The travel case is in good condition commensurate age and handling, just some marks and scuffs on the outside with the silk lining on the inside frayed. The size of the miniature 63mm high high x 50mm wide, the frame size is shown below.
