The second of 2 miniature portraits concerning Cabul prisoners during the First Afghan war 1839-1842. This is a portrait of Mrs Ayre after copies of the original drawings by Lieutenant Ayre 1811-1881 at the time he and a number of officers and their wives where held captive.

This listing is for a stunning and large Hand Painted Miniature Portrait in water Colour of Marie Antoinette 1755-1793, presented in its original ormolu frame and signed on the right "Brunet". Marie Antoinette was the last Queen of France before the French Revolution. She was born an Archduchess of Austria and was the penultimate child and youngest daughter of Empress Theresa and Frances 1st. Holy Roman Emperor. The painting is presented in an oval ormolu bezel set in an old gold velvet matt and in its original ormolu frame, with swags of flowers and pediment of flaming crossed torches. The size of the miniature is 115mm high x 90mm wide, The frame size is shown below.
