A very beautiful French Dresser Box with a Hand Painted and Signed Miniature Portrait on ivory to the lid. Produced around 1880/1890 this lovely box is in stunning condition. The oblong shaped box has applied gilded raised mouldings to the the lid with a lovely engine turned background and a twisted rope like design to the outer edge of the lid. Around the lower outer box is a continuous design of feather shaped emblems linked by a scroll design of acanthus leaves. The interior is lined with an old gold background material with flowers and leaves.

This listing is for a stunning ormolu navette shaped French casket. It is inset with a hand painted miniature portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte on ivory, set behind original bevelled edge glass. The ormolu is in great condition, the top has applied mounts on either side of the portrait. The exterior surround of the box has Greek urns, Cornucopia and flowing and trailing vines. I believe this is a portrait after the French artist "David". Not only is the casket superb but the painting is of great quality, there is a signature bottom right but not legible. The interior is lined in a wine coloured velvet. The size of the miniature is 35mm in Dia. The casket sizes are shown below
